Since there has been more cyber attacks, we would like to remind everyone how important it is to have anti-ransom software installed on your PC. Heimdal is a product the we can provide you with to ensure that your risk of becoming a victim in a cyber attack is dramatically reduced.
What is Heimdal?
It is a security package that is designed to target and block cyber criminals from getting in to your system to steal, break and cause damage to all your data. Trust us, it can be a tough job to get back when your data has been encrypted.
Will an anti-virus package keep me safe?
In some ways yes but others no. It does protect it to a certain degree, but it doesn’t focus on protecting cyber criminals getting in to your PC to hold your data at ransom. As it is an anti-virus package, it will stop viruses from infecting your PC mainly but will not one hundred percent rely on malware and ransomware attacks.
It’s a good idea to have both packages, because not only are you protecting your PC from viruses, malware and ransomware, it will make you one hundred percent more protected than those who don’t have it. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
Are there any major attacks that have happened recently?
Most definitely! We have been raising our awareness recently about cyber attacks is because they have been a number of recent attacks, and we want to make sure everyone doesn’t encounter this issue. You may have read online or seen on the news about several cyber attacks and here are some of the following attacks that have caused absolute chaos to businesses:
The WannaCry virus
This attack targeted mainly the NHS as cyber criminals infected their register system to several NHS hospitals across the country. Many were forced to close as they couldn’t carry on with their work due to the systems being down, and many doctors had to refer back to the pen and paper method.
It also infected over 150 countries sending businesses in to meltdown and panic.
Golden eye virus
This has been the most recent attack, hitting countries worldwide. The virus hit Chernobyl’s radiation systems, US drug firm Merck, advertising giants WPP and a Ukrainian power grid which has been said to be the worst hit.
The attack has been spread through accounting systems that are frequently used, forcing the IT systems to shut down completely.
These cases are some of the worst attacks that has happened most recently and we cannot stress enough how important it is to make sure that your PC is fully protected and the correct precautions are taken.
