The Hilton Hotel is getting up to date with technology as they look implementing smart home technology in to their rooms next year! (cool right?!)
What is the IoT?
So glad you asked! The Internet of Things is a the connection of devices and smart devices. It’s embedded with software, sensors and network connectivity that enables these objects to collect and exchange data.
Looking to the future, the Hilton wanted their guests to experience the advanced technology that we have today to keep up with the modern day technology and future development of the IoT. The very first things they want to do is allow their guests to check in on their smart devices as well as chose their rooms and unlock them, which is already a start for them.
This saves you the time and effort of queuing at the check in desk when you can do it right from the comfort of your car seat (if you’re the passenger that is! – don’t forget don’t check i whilst driving). Imagine having exactly what you requested for your room when you step right through the door? Yes, that is exactly what the Hilton is planning on having as an extra feature on the app. Well done guys, that’s customer service on point.
What can we expect in the future?
We can expect more features coming to the Hilton hotel app including:
- A TV remote
- A thermostat
- A light switch
These are the next features in line to be added to the app. They eventually want their guests to be able to control the app and features by voice control which would be technology moving forward in its finest form.
The CEO of the Hilton has said that they want to give their guests the best travel experience possible within the implementation of the IoT.
