The exact date for releasing Windows 10 to mobile is unknown. However, Microsoft have announced that it should happen in December 2015. Windows 10 will be compatible on a number of different mobile devices, see if you can find yours in this list.
If you already own a Windows Phone running Windows 8.1, then the good news is you’ll be able to upgrade to Windows 10 at some point in the near future! But if you do want to get your hands on the new operating system right now, then we can tell you how to download Windows 10 to your mobile without having to wait any longer!
Firstly, download the Windows Insider app; this will give you early access to versions of Microsoft software. To do this, open the Windows store on your device and search for ‘Windows Insider’. When you’ve found it click on the app and install.
Next, make sure your device is up to date by opening Settings and tapping on Phone Update. It is also advisable to use wifi when installing software. Also, check your images and files are backed up before proceeding!
Open the Windows Insider app when it has finished installing and select, ‘Get Preview Builds’. You’ll be asked whether you want to enroll on Insider Slow or Insider Fast. Insider Slow means you won’t get the new features quite as quickly, but your experience will be smoother, with most issues sorted out before you try them.
Tap on the one you want and your device will now reboot. You should now go back to Settings and select Phone Update, then Check for Updates and your device should now find the update and begin downloading.
Be prepared to wait! This can take a little while!
There is no guarantee that this method of installation will run 100% smoothly or bug free so it may be worth waiting for the official Windows 10 update to be released before upgrading… we’ll leave it up to you!
