Welcome to our first Autumn Newsletter of 2017

Issue 51

It’s been an exciting two weeks in the tech industry. Apple released their new products which sent the world mad due to their costs! There’s also been talk of Cyber Security and data breaches which is what we’re here to help you with. This week’s newsletter will bring you news of the revamp of Aspect IT Plus, Cyber Security Laws for 2018 and also our latest blogs and articles.

Aspect IT Plus is getting a new makeover

As our current IT support clients will know, our Aspect IT Plus portal hasn’t been updated for quite some time…mainly because we have been looking after our lovely clients and providing IT solutions.
Well, that is all about to change. We are now in the process of revamping our portal to give you the best user experience possible. With a brand new design and brand new features (without giving too much away) it’ll be easier and more modern! Stay tuned for more updates!

New Cyber Security Laws for 2018

We’ve all seen businesses going into complete and utter meltdown this year because they’ve been hacked. Last year, 74% of SMEs suffered a security breach, according to a government survey. But did you know that data breaches could get your business fined by the EU? Well, if losing your data wasn’t enough, a new EU law may fine you for not reporting data breaches.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is Europe’s new data protection regulations and replaces the 1995 Data Protection Act. It will become enforceable from 25 May 2018. A key obligation of the new regulation is the reporting of personal data breaches to a Supervisory Authority with 72 hours. Failure to report such breaches may mean your business is fined or has sanctions imposed.

How Aspect IT can help you

We are experts in IT security and can help secure your business network from hackers. An example of one product we regularly use is Heimdal Security. It protects your PC’s and Servers against any malicious activity as well as monitoring for any suspicious activity. It will leave you feeling less stressed about hackers.

If you’re concerned about your Cyber Security or need any help on enforcing measures within your business, you can contact the office on 0161 241 9050.

Interesting fact

IMG_4052A mill near to our Oldham office has a Blue Plaque dedicated to Annie Kenny, one of the first suffragettes to be imprisoned.

She was born in Springhead and worked in a local cotton mill, which is now Lees Brook Mills, in Lees.

Interesting what you find when you’re out for a lunch-time walk!
