New Cyber Security Laws for 2018
We’ve all seen businesses going into complete and utter meltdown this year because they’ve been hacked. Last year, 74% of SMEs suffered a security breach, according to a government survey. But did you know that data breaches could get your business fined by the EU? Well, if losing your data wasn’t enough, a new EU law may fine you for not reporting data breaches.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is Europe’s new data protection regulations and replaces the 1995 Data Protection Act. It will become enforceable from 25 May 2018. A key obligation of the new regulation is the reporting of personal data breaches to a Supervisory Authority with 72 hours. Failure to report such breaches may mean your business is fined or has sanctions imposed.

We are experts in IT security and can help secure your business network from hackers. An example of one product we regularly use is Heimdal Security. It protects your PC’s and Servers against any malicious activity as well as monitoring for any suspicious activity. It will leave you feeling less stressed about hackers.

A mill near to our Oldham office has a Blue Plaque dedicated to Annie Kenny, one of the first suffragettes to be imprisoned.
She was born in Springhead and worked in a local cotton mill, which is now Lees Brook Mills, in Lees.
Interesting what you find when you’re out for a lunch-time walk!
